Another white buffalo calf
Wednesday, September 13, 2006
by Bob Hague
Lightning strikes three times -- in the form of another white buffalo calf born at a Janesville area farm.
It was a birth of great significance to Native Americans -- in 1994, "Miracle," the original white buffalo calf, was born at the farm of Dave Heider. Heider says this calf -- a male named "Miracle Second Chance," is not a descendent of that animal, which died two years ago.
The Heider's, whose lives were turned upside down by the birth of the original "Miracle," hope folks will limit their visits to view the calf to Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Incidentally, Heider says a Sioux medicine man from South Dakota told his wife that the birth of this calf is a sign for the men of the world to "clean up their acts" -- quit boozing and drugging and start treating women with greater respect.
